The Reverend James Williamson Brown, Jr., died Nov. 13, 2010. He was born Feb. 23, 1929 and was preceded in death by his parents, James Williamson Brown and Mary Skipwith Brown. He is survived by his wife, Joan Wiley Brown; son, James Williamson Brown III; daughter, Elizabeth Williams; grandsons, Seth Blackburn and Robert Brown (May); granddaughters, Mattie Brown and Peyton Williams; and great-granddaughter Jillian Blackburn. He was ordained an Episcopal priest at age 40 after service in the Army and an early career with Merrill Lynch. He served churches in Kentucky and on the Eastern Shore of Virginia before retiring. He was a happy man with many interests (flying, sailing, racing sports cars in his youth). He believed himself to be richly blessed and will be remembered for the joy he found in his faith, his family and friends and all animals, especially his three cats. The service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, VA and will be conducted by the Rt. Rev. Herman Hollerith and The Rev. Mark Wilkinson.
