Jane A. Norwig, 80, of the 1000 block of Ranchero Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2011, in a local hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Edna Gilson. Jane was always happy and her smile and wonderful laugh will be greatly missed. We will cherish all the fun days of skiing in Vermont, and all our beach days with family and friends. She had a love for golf and was a member of the Red Wing Ladies Golf Association. Jane is survived by her husband of 58 years, Raymond Norwig, Jr.; three daughters, Susan J. Boland and husband Kevin of Maryland, Debbie Sellers of Virginia Beach and Bonnie N. Thomas of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Kevin, Kathleen, Christopher, Whitney, Marchelle and Austin; a sister, Mary Haefele of New York; three nieces; one nephew; seven great nieces; and four great nephews. The family extends thanks to the staff at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. "We love you mom and grammy to the moon and back." A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
