Jane C. Ortner, 60, entered her eternal life on October 6, 2009 surrounded by her family at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Center, a vigil service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Jane was born in Des Moines and was a 1967 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She liked animals, taking long walks with her dog and loved to decorate for the holidays, especially the Christmas season. She was a loving wife and mother and cherished the time with family and friends. She will be missed by her husband of 37 years, John; sons, John (Nicole) of West Des Moines and Josh of Urbandale; mother, Nancy Kooker of West Des Moines; sisters, Kate (Ted) Starostka of Urbandale and Lucy (Bob) Anderson of Clive; brother, Ned Rood of West Des Moines and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Rood, in 1986.
