Jane Chancey Daniels, 83, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side at Willson Hospice House on Sunday Jan. 22, 2012. Funeral service will be Wednesday 4 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM till funeral hour.
Born Aug. 14, 1928 in Albany, Jane was 1 of 5 children born to Gilbert and Jean Elsie (Tyson) Chancey. She graduated from Georgia Baptist Hospital Nursing program on Sept 15, 1948 and attended the US Air Force School of Aviation Medicine at Gunter Air Force Base in Alabama in 1951. She met the love of her life James Bobby Daniels in 1950 and they were married on May 11, 1951. She was a 1st Lt. in the US Air Force Reserve and left the Air Force after 2 years to pursue a career in nursing. She worked for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and later as a private duty RN for many years. She continued her education to become a teacher of nursing and taught at Albany Technical College from 1967 to 1991 when she retired. She was a long time member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bobby Daniels, parents, Gilbert & Jean Elsie (Tyson) Chancey, brothers, Gilbert E. Chancey, Winiford "Red" Chancey, Gene Chancey, and Joseph William "Billy" Chancey, sons, James Steven Daniels and Walter Carl Daniels.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Daniels of Albany and James (Pamela) Daniels of Leesburg.
