Jane Davis October 7, 1923 ~ August 24, 2010 Funeral services for Jane Davis, 86, of Somerville are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Robert Tompkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with the family present and from 9:00 a. m. until the time of the service Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Mrs. Jane Davis died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Burleson-St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell. Jane was born October 7, 1923 in Nacogdoches, the daughter of Thomas Link Thrash and Addie Mae (Miller) Thrash. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown and was married to Jim Davis, Sr. on January 19, 1949. She taught kindergarten and first grade in a private church school and was a faithful member of Community Chapel Worship Center. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting. She loved children and she especially enjoyed teaching them to read. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Survivors include her husband of sixty one years, Jim Davis, Sr. of Somerville; her children, Jimmy Davis, Jr. of Kelseyville, California, David Bryan Davis of Somerville, Danny Mack Davis of Somerville and DiAnn and her husband, Donnie Lueck of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Garrett Lueck of Hawaii, Stephen Michael Davis of Corpus Christi, Danny Davis, Jr. and Joseph Cowden of Caldwell; a great-grandchild, Pierce Michael Davis of Corpus Christi; a brother, Louie Thrash of Nacogdoches; along with numerous nieces and nephews cousins, and other relatives.
