Jane M. Watkins, 83, of South Bend, passed away on Friday October 4, 2013, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on May 6, 1930, in South Bend, to the late David T. and Jane M. (Roy) Roche and was a lifelong area resident. On July 30, 1949, she married Jacob I. Watkins, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1989. On March 14, 1998 she married the late Robert E. Boyles. Jane is survived by her daughters, Margaret "Peggy" (Douglas) Paul of South Bend, Marsha (Mick) Magura of Valparaiso, IN, Karin (Ramon) Barnes of Granger, IN and Laura (Tom) Woziniak of South Bend; her son, Mark (Theresa) Watkins of New Carlisle; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey (Chris) and Jason Paul, Joseph and Toby Neal, Ashley and Alyssa Barnes, Aimee Abbott and Joanna Singh and Calvin Watkins; five great-grandchildren, Kraig Paul, Haley and Rocco Carden, Hunter and Karlie Kretchmer and Jaden Kinnisen; and three sisters, Elizabeth Mumaw of New Carlisle, Rita Bailey of South Bend and Patricia Brucker of Granger. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Katie Thompson and by three brothers, David, Joseph and Franicis Roche; and by two sisters, Mary Folk and Christine Ake. Jane worked as a Postmaster for the US Postal service in Goshen, where she retired in 1990, after 23 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupe and past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm on Tuesday October 8, 2013, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday October 9, 2013, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church (meet directly at the church). Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation
