Janet E. Stokes, age 61, of Venice, died on June 26, 2008. She was born in Kansas City Missouri on January 7, 1947. She had a teaching career in Missouri and retired from Venice High School in 2003. She was active at First Christian Church, past president of Venice Area Women's League, and she enjoyed golf and traveling. Surviving family members include her husband of 41 years, Gary; daughter Cara Lyn Stokes of Venice; son Bart (Cristina) of Washington, DC; sister Carol (Clyde) Lorance of Springfield, MO.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Venice, 1100 Center Road, on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 10 AM.
Janet leaves a host of good friends and a motto, it will be fun. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society 2801 Fruitville Rd., Ste. 250, Sarasota, FL 34237.
