WASHBURN. Janet Hope (Pechta) Washburn, 75, of East Granby, beloved wife of Joseph A. Washburn passed away Saturday, (February 4, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born July 17, 1936 in Great Falls, MT, daughter of the late Emil Frederick and Olive Hope (Langstaff) Pechta, she grew up in Montana before marrying her husband, Joe, and settling in East Granby. She attended Bozeman College and Great Falls University where she obtained her L.P.N. Janet worked as an L.P. N. at Holly Hill in Simsbury and later was employed as an office manager in the English Department at the University of Hartford before retiring. Janet loved being around family and friends, she enjoyed knitting, singing and had a caring passion for animals, and was an avid bird-watcher. Mostly she adored her grandchildren. Besides Joseph, her husband of 58 years, she is survived by a daughter, Janice Washburn; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Washburn; four grandchildren, Zachary and Justin Washburn, Emma (Washburn) Blaiklock and Alexander (Washburn) Blaiklock; a sister Shirley Sharar of Seattle, WA; her twin brother, James Pechta of Great Falls, MT; many nieces, nephews and friends; she was predeceased by a son, James Washburn of Windsor Locks, CT; and a sister, Dorothy Stark, Billings , MT.
