Janet Louise Wilcox, 75, a lifetime Lapeer resident, died Thursday November 1, 2012. Janet was born January 30, 1937 in Lapeer daughter to Claude and Leona (Wallace) Firman. Janet graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1955. She worked over 30 years for the Michigan State Home and Training Center (Oakdale Center). Janet was originally an attendant nurse and ultimately became a trainer at Oakdale. She was a former Eagles Auxiliary President. Janet's life was devoted to her family - she absolutely adored and cared for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Janet is survived by her children: Cathy (Stanley Hoffman) Hutchings-Hoffman of North Carolina, Cliff (Sandy) Wilcox of Lapeer and Jerri Lynn (Marty) DePuy of Lapeer; seven grandchildren: Benjamin, Kate, Mitchell, Lee Ann, Andrea, Dustin and Matthew; seven great grandchildren: Brenna, Aiden, Clara, Julianne, Cora, Elijah and Miles; her siblings: Jim (Mia) Firman of Pontiac and Cork (Jim) Gonyea of Tennessee. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Wilcox in 2008, her sister, Eunice DuPlanty and her parents. Visitation will be 2-8pm Sunday November 4, 2012. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday November 5, 2012 at Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer. Rev. Arnold Bracy and Rev. Jeremy Lazzell will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Bible Church – Helping Hands Program, 933 South Main Street, Lapeer, Michigan 48446.
