A Funeral Mass for Janette Lee Ofczarzak, 71, of Caldwell, TX is set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat, TX. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A visitation will be held at Strickland Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2011, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Ofczarzak passed away August 15, 2011 at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan. Janette was born December 28, 1939 to Lee Merritt and Gladys (Graham) Merritt, in Houston, TX. At the age of 14, she married Alton E. Ofczarzak on November 13, 1954, in Ellisville, MS. She was a devoted wife and companion for 56 years, bearing nine children. Janette attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell as well as Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Janette had a passion for playing Texas Hold'em with family and friends, enjoyed going to casinos to gamble and played Louisiana slot machines. She was very artistic and creative with her crafts and woodworking. She was known for her fashion of wearing denim, crosses, butterflies and bling. She had a fondness for roosters and had them prominently displayed in the kitchen where she had cooked so many wonderful meals for all of her family and friends who were always welcomed. Janette had such love for her family and took great pride in caring for them, but would always make time for cleaning homes for dear friends. She also took pleasure in kicking back to do some serious fishing from time to time (LOL) and throw back a few beers. Janette is survived by her husband, Alton E. Ofczarzak of Somerville, TX; her mother, Gladys Merritt of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Eva Muenzler of Pyote, TX; son, Alton E. Ofczarzak, II & wife, Rebevra of College Station, TX; son, Mark Ofczarzak & wife, Janice of Caldwell, TX; daughter, Lisa Williams & husband, Paul of Laredo, TX; son, Vincent Ofczarzak & wife, Denise of Somerville, TX; son, Craig Ofczarzak of Somerville, TX; daughter, Angela Barnett of College Station, TX; son, Carl Ofczarzak of Somerville, TX; brother, Rodney Merritt & wife, Mary Ann of Phoenix, AZ, nineteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Lee Merritt, one son, Bart Ofczarzak, son-in-law, Donald Muenzler and daughter-in-law, Theresa Jo Ofczarzak.
