  • Daryl's favorite picture of Janice. Ironically, she hated that photo, saying she looked like "a bush with legs".
  • The urn of Janice's cremains, which are in a mausoleum in Apopka, Florida, where her parents live. Green was her favorite color.

Janice Elaine Harvey Stout, 48, of Little Rock, died Friday, April 27, 2007. She was born October 14, 1958, in Kingston, Jamaica.

After moving to the United States with her family, to obtain medical treatment, Janice became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic Academy in Bronx, New York...then later graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Psychology. After moving to Arkansas, she graduated from the University Of Arkansas at Little Rock, with a Master Of Arts Degree in Psychology.

Throughout her life, she didn't let her disabilities hinder her creativity, or her desire to succeed. Janice was caring, unselfish, and gave of herself in so many ways. Reading and music were her passions. She also had a love for all creatures of God's Creation, and she had a special love for dachshunds, also known as ''weenie dogs''.

She met her beloved husband, Daryl, from a chat on a local computer bulletin board system (BBS) in 1986, and they were friends for seventeen and one-half years before they married on May 18, 2003, in Bryant, Arkansas. Several times before Daryl proposed, her caring attitude was evident toward Daryl...and he knew ''she was the one for him''. Not a day goes by when neither he, nor her parents, do not think of her...she truly typified what the Biblical book of Proverbs notes as "a virtuous woman". As Daryl notes, her sense of humor was just one part of a whole slew of wonderful memories, that no one can take away, from either him, her parents, or by those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of nearly four years, Daryl J. D. Stout, her parents, Roland and Sonia Harvey of Apopka, Florida, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at the funeral home. Then, a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Janice was held at 11am., Thursday, May 3, 2007, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th, Little Rock , with Reverend Leon Steele officiating. Burial and a memorial service followed in Apopka, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to The Community Church of God, Bryant, Arkansas, to your local diabetes research foundation, or to Heart Clinic Arkansas, 10100 Kanis Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
