Janina Wodnicki, 85, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, WV. Born January 26, 1926 in Poland, she was a daughter of the late Walenty and Katheryn Paszt Sasyn. She was also preceded in death by her husband Boleslaw "Bill" Wodnicki whom she married August 5, 1945 and who died on August 7, 2004, brothers Zigmund and Joseph and sisters Regina, Lodgia and Anna. Mrs. Wodnicki was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Janina is survived by her sons Stanley Wodnicki and his wife Marcia of Weirton and Henry Wodnicki and his wife Norma of New Cumberland, WV; brothers John Sasyn of Niagra Falls, NY and Pete Sasyn of Weirton; sisters Helen Sasyn and Mary Zajac of Weirton and Czesia Orlowski of Cleveland, OH; 4 grandchildren Mark Wodnicki, Shari Cain, Michael Wodnicki and Bobbie Leigh Diller; eight great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Friday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Post Office Box 2247, Weirton, WV 26062.
