Jason M. Babbitt, 36, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, following a nine year battle with Malignant Glioblastoma Multiforme (Brain Cancer).

He was born on May 9, 1975 to Jerry and Ginny (Vayda) Babbitt in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. His maternal grandparents, Daniel and Virginia Vayda; paternal grandfather, Raymond Babbitt, and his aunt, Karen Morrow all preceded him in death.

Jason worked as an Inventory Specialist for AT&T Wireless in Elkhart, IN for 11 years.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1993 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from IUSB in 2000.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Ginny Babbitt of South Bend, IN; paternal grandmother, Violet Whitlow of South Bend, IN; grandparents, Glenn and Pat Whitlow of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Jessica (Sonny) Swope of South Bend, IN; Jaci Babbitt of South Bend, IN; his niece/goddaughter, Kennedy Swope of South Bend, IN; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jason was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and body builder. He was a member of World Gym in Mishawaka, IN.

Jason's family would like to thank the 10th floor Oncology nurses and P.C.A. staff at Memorial Hospital for the care they provided; and also thank the staff at Michiana Hematology and Oncology in South Bend, IN.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 2p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Eddie L. Miller, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
