Navy Emblem

Jay passed away September 4, 2011 after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born August 12, 1948 to J.D. and Jane Carter in Payson, Utah.

He was educated in Payson schools and graduated from UVCC in Provo. He served in the Navy from 1967 to 1971 as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class aboard the USS Duncan. Jay retired from diesel mechanics due to illness.

Survivors include: his wife, Debbie of Salt Lake; sons, Jared (Suzanne), St. George, Captain Kelly (Lexis), Saratoga, Springs; Jake, Salt Lake; daughters, JoDee Akers, Saratoga Springs; Desiree (Jeremy) Blain, Salt Lake; Shannon (Justin) Thomas, Spanish Fork; 13 grandchildren; his mother of Payson; sisters, Susan (Terry) Hallett, Caralee (Alan) Steele, and sister-in-law, Julie, all of Santaquin. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Allan.

Military Rites will be accorded, Thursday, September 8, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, with a celebration of Jay's life to follow.

The family would like to express appreciation to Drs. Beth Hanlon and Anna Beck, and to hospice nurse, Janne for all their support and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Wells Fargo Bank in Deborah Carters name to assist with medical and final expenses.
