Jay F Herschler ,47, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a life long battle with asthma.
He was born March 15, 1966 in Vermilion, and had been a life long Vermilion and Norwalk resident.
Jay was a general contractor who owned and operated Lynxs Construction.
He loved to describe himself as a big kid that never grew up. He enjoyed skateboarding, BMX riding, and he especially enjoyed Cedar Point Amusement Park. He loved music and being in the outdoors, whether it was camping, grilling out, or working with his green thumb in the garden. He will be remembered for his selfless personality and his ability to teach those he was working with.
He is survived by his sons, Andrew (Samantha) Perry of Wakeman and Gregory Lasch of Vermilion; daughters, Julieann (Rowland) Rivera of Vermilion, Kathleen (Kenny) York of Millersburg, and Alycia Perry of Vermilion; 8 grandchildren with one on the way; mother and step-father, Karen (nee Heatley) and Bob Manning of Vermilion; sisters, Krista (Timothy) Coy of Lorain and Heather (Adam) Leaver of Montrose, Minnesota; and brothers, Michael (Donna) Herschler of Elyria and Eric (Heather) Herschler of Lima.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Herschler; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mae Heatley; and paternal grandparents, Fredrick and Lois Herschler.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at 2 pm at the funeral home. The Reverend Louis Bertoni will officiate.
