Jean Brizendine Helems, 85, of New Castle passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 22, 2012. She was born September 22, 1927 in Craig County. She was the daughter of the late Oney and Lizzie Brizendine. She was preceded in death by her husband Hale "Minnie" Helems and her brother Claude.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susie and Billy Lee; son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Susan Helems; grandchildren Jamie and Melissa Lee, Amy and Dewey Taylor, Adrian and Hank Luton, Alex Helems & Rachel Meagher; great-grandchildren Jefferson Lee, Hannah Taylor, Bryson Taylor, and Hudson Luton; sister Mildred Humphreys of Pomeroy, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was an active member of the New Castle Christian Church her entire life. Jean was a kind, gentle, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love and dedication to her family will be forever cherished and her memory will be held dear.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Westview Cemetery with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Paitsel Funeral Home.
