Jean H. Lagoni took her last "authorized fieldtrip" on January 23, 2010. She lived her adult life as a loving mother, doctor's wife and dedicated friend. She enjoyed creative endeavors and Sunday brunches with family. She will be remembered most for her servant's heart, always placing her family, friends and community at the top of her priorities. Her smile, sense of humor and caring ways will be remembered as a gift she offered to everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. Jean was born on April 1, 1920 in Tipton, Iowa to Alfred and Sarah E. (Ohlinger) Hoepner. She graduated from Davenport High School. Jean married Ralph P. Lagoni on August 9, 1945 in Davenport, IA. She was a charter member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eldridge, IA, transferring to Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ in 1975. She was a past president of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority of Albuquerque, N.M. and was affiliated with the River Bend Girl Scout Council and the Iowa Girl Scout Council for 17 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughter JoAnn; her parents and a brother. Jean is survived by her daughter, Linda Manire, son Peter (Laurel) Lagoni; granddaughters Julie Manire (Russ) Hovland, Bryn and Kaia Lagoni and great-grandchildren Jack and Ava Hovland. A Remembrance Gathering will be held to visit with family and friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Flagstone/Rangeview Clubhouse, 4550 Larkbunting Drive, Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090 or to the charity of your choice.
