Jean Lois Martin, 77 of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at The Inn at Chappel Creek, Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 29, 1927 in Lakewood, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident since 1960.

Ms. Martin graduated from Bay Village High School, the University of Cincinnati and Conservatory in 1950 with a BS and BM. She also received her Masters Degree in 1953 from Case Western Reserve. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon (Honary Music Sorority). She was a 3rd grade music teacher at Lorain City Schools.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion where she was active in the church choir and bible study groups. She enjoyed music.

She was preceded in death by her mother Francis Cogswell Waite, and her fathers Walter Myers and Dorland Martin.

A memorial services will be held Monday Feb. 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State Rt. 60, Vermilion. The Reverend Wendall Brooker, pastor, will officiate. Private interment will be Tuesday in Alger Cemetery, Cleveland.
