Jeannine Beck Hickey was born August 8, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas to Victor & Eleanor Beck, the second of three children. She died April 24, 2012 in San Antonio after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was raised in San Antonio, Texas where she attended Alamo Heights High School. She subsequently attended Texas A&I College. She married Dennis Eugene Hickey in 1951, and they celebrated their 59th anniversary in 2010. Dennis was in the Air Force and, for the next twenty years, they did tours of duty in Europe and Southeast Asia. In 1971 Dennis retired from the service and they returned to San Antonio. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, the Knife and Fork Club of San Antonio and Delta Theta Sorority. She was a founding member and on the executive board of the Guadalupe Home, an organization for homeless expectant mothers, and the San Antonio Czech Association. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and grandson Michael. She is survived by children Steven and wife Lori, Gary and wife Julie, Mark and wife Karol (deceased), Eleanor and husband Thomas Ruhnke; grandchildren David Hickey, Sara Hickey, Kristen Ruhnke, Dylan Hickey, Lauren Ruhnke, Ellis Hickey and Kimberly Ruhnke; brothers Victor Beck and wife Janis, Edmund Beck and wife Jutta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guadalupe Home 1223 S Trinity San Antonio TX 78207 (210) 476-0707.
