Jerry was born in west Texas and grew up as a cotton picker. After his first 3 years in business his crop failed him miserably, in his 4th year his crop finally gained just enough money to pay off his debts to the bank for the previous years. After that, he packed up his bags, as fast as he could, and moved from west Texas to Dallas, thats where he found his loving wife and became a dear father. He was a hard worker and always loved and provided for his family no matter what.
Jerry was a big fan of old Western's as, Gun Smoke and Rifleman, along with the likings of old country artist such as, Jim Reeves and Hank Williams, Sr. He was also an avid Texas Ranger and Dallas Cowboy fan. Jerry loved working in his vegetable garden and was proud of his tomato's, unlike the cotton he could not grow. He was a longtime member and Decon of the Lyon's Road Baptist Church in Garland, Tx. Above all he loved the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years at the time of her death, Lucille Carr. He is survived by daughters,Tonya Phillips and husband, Jeff; and Karen Baker; sisters, Katherine Robinette and Jessie Burke; grandaughters, Carrie Valentino and husband John and Sarah Ritz and by 4 great-grandchildren, Sydney, April, Anthony and Lucas. Rev. Walter Evans the Pastor of Talty Baptist Church will be officating.
