Jesse Howard Tate, DMD
Greenville, SC

Jesse Howard Tate, DMD, of Pawleys Island and also of Greenville, SC, passed away December 20, 2011 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He is preceded in death by Nona Lindsey Tate, his wife of 38 years who passed in 1987 and Katherine Jones Armstrong Tate, his wife of 16 years who passed in 2005.

He is survived by three children: Jesse Howard Tate, Jr. (Carolyn), and Victoria Lindsey Tate McGuire (John Paul) of Greenville, and Catherine Ann Tate of Simpsonville; and five grandchildren: Rebecca Tate Harp (Justin) of Camas, WA, Leslie Tate Harmon (Andrew) and Hannah Lindsey Tate of Greenville, John Paul McGuire, Jr. of Brevard, NC and Matthew Scott McGuire of San Antonio, TX.; and three great-grandchildren: Cayden Jesse Harp, Avery Elizabeth Harp and Emilyn Gene Harp of Camas, WA.

Born in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of Fred & Alta Tate. Jesse was a Master Sergeant in the US Army Air Force during World War II, where he served as a Waist & Tail - Gunner in a B-24 Liberator (The "Raidin Maiden") in the 8th Air Force, 406 Bomb Squad. He is a graduate of Furman University and the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry.

Jesse practiced dentistry for 32 years in the Lake Forest Shopping Center on North Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, December 22nd at Christ the King Waccamaw Episcopal Church at 10172 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, SC.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, December 23rd in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at The Mackey Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Live With It Well grief ministry at P.M.B. 176, 1413 Highway 17 S, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 or Christ the King Waccamaw Episcopal Church
