Jewel A. Washburn, 92, of Little Rock died September 30, 2011 in Hot Springs. Born January 13, 1919 in Little Rock, she was the daughter of Henry W. and Coila Calk Adams. She was an office clerk for
Sterling Department Store in downtown Little Rock for over 20 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock and later First Baptist Church of Maumelle. She enjoyed camping and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Hazel, her husband, Franklin Dean Washburn, and a daughter-in-law, Lyda Washburn. Survivors are her children, Franklin H. Washburn of Little Rock, William H. Washburn and his wife, Jeanelle, of Pueblo, Colorado, Jerry D. Washburn and his wife, Barbara, of Nixa, Missouri, Stephen A. Washburn and his wife, Patsy, of Lubbock, Texas and Coila "Cissy" Huggs and her husband, Frank, of Hot Springs, 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4th at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Rev. Jeff Williams, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Shon, Rick, Troy and Travis Washburn. Honorary pallbearers will be the nursing home staff of Quapaw Care and Rehab of Hot Springs. The family offers a special thanks to Robin, Ruby, and Deborah, who became her second family while at Quapaw Care and Rehab. Open visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock (501) 661-9111. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411 W.
