James "Jimmy" Travis Prince, 68, and Barbara Jean Black Prince, 66, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at their residence on Snow Creek Road in the Santa Fe Community.

A joint memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.

Jimmy was the son of the late James Bernard Prince and Mary Evelyn Jones Prince Hardison. He was a 1962 graduate of Spring Hill High School and was employed as mechanic for House of Honda for several years. He later worked at General Electric until its close and retired as a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Prince was well known for coaching girls fast pitch softball and was honored by the Jimmy Prince Field at Pillow Park.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Ulna Lentz Black and Mary Frances Tomlinson Black. She attended Columbia Central High School and was retired from Goodman Floor Covering where she worked as secretary and salesperson for twenty-five years. She was an avid animal lover.

Mr. & Mrs. Prince were married November 21, 1964 and were members of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include their daughter, Shonda (Mike) McCord of Santa Fe; grandson, Landon James Reed of Columbia; great grandson, Caleb Thomas Reed of Culleoka; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy is also survived by two sisters, Barbara (Edward) Harmon of Spring Hill; Betty (Tony) Torcello of Meridian, Connecticut; and one brother, Jerry Edward (Pat) Prince of Columbia. Barbara is also survived by one brother, James L. (Rachel) Black of Columbia.

They were preceded in death by their daughter, Tracey Lynne Ingram; and Barbara's brother, Terry D. Black.
