Jo Ann Howell-Bunger, 81, of Hot Springs died Saturday October 29, 2011 in a local hospital. She was born in Arkadelphia on December 22, 1929 to the late Frank & Kate Edith Mock.
Jo Ann graduated from Arkadelphia High School in 1948 and worked for SWB Telephone Co. in Arkadelphia until she married in 1953 and then traveled with her husband Jim Howell while he was in the Navy, until he retired to Hot Springs, AR. in 1962. Jo Ann then went back to work with SWB Telephone Co. and retired after 27 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1963, Friends Forever Club and Pioneers of America.
She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, James H, Howell, Woodrow Walters and Roy Bunger; her parents; 2 sisters, Vivian Ball & Marjorie Richardson and 2 brothers, Frank Mock, Jr. & Bill Mock.
Survivors include 1 son, David M. Howell & 1 daughter, Sheila Howell both of Hot Springs; 1 granddaughter, Melissa Horan & 1 great grandson, Brooks Horan, both of Carrollton, TX; sister-in-law Dixie Mock of Shreveport, LA. & many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Kevin Godwin, Brent Godwin, Brad Turner, Cale Turner, Randy "Toot" Radley, Jimmy Shipman & Toby Pentacost.
Honorary pallbearers are Friendship Sunday School Class, Forever Friends Club, Central Baptist Church, Dr. Timothy English, Dr. Warren & Staff, Elva Rhodes, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Daniel, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Godwin & ICU Staff National Park Medical Center.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday at Gross Funeral Home. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gross with Dr. Bill Harris & Bro. Coy Samples officiating and Burial will be Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia.
Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or Garland Co. Humane Society.
