Joan Fyfe Spandre
1922-2010

Our darling Mom died peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2010. Her last words were “I am not afraid” because of the happy prospect of being reunited with her dear Louie & their infant daughters Christine and Rachel.

Born July 19, 1922 in Crosby on Eden, Carlisle England to Andrew and Marie Little Fyfe. Joan had an idyllic childhood in the seaside city of Wallasey, with her beloved sister and brother, Doris and Jim. Daily excursions to the beach and swims in the sea were some of her happiest memories.

Following WWII, Joan emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Utah, where she met her darling Louis. Their marriage was one of complete devotion and their home was filled with love.

The final lines of Joan’s life history state, “How could I be so lucky? To have married the best husband, who made us all feel completely loved. Then to top it all off, to be blessed with the world’s best daughters and their beautiful families. What a wonderful life, and I think it isn’t luck, but blessings from a loving Heavenly Father. It really has been a wonderful life”.

Joan will be remembered and loved forever by her family: daughter Lisa and grandson Marcus Thomson, daughter and son-in-law Megan and Bruce Badger, and their children Phil, McCaye, Lizzie and Nick Cardon, and Elder Patrick Spandre Badger currently serving in Taiwan. And her dear niece Mavis Quarles.

A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive. There will be a graveside service Wednesday, December 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, entering from the 11th Ave. entrance.
