Joan Nevelle Pate, 80, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Sunday November 27, 2011, at the Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, OH. Born on July 7, 1931 in Elbert, WV, Joan was a daughter of the late Ira and Virginia Brown Myers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Wesley "Jack" Pate, on October 22, 2010; an infant son, Ira Pate; two brothers, Jimmy and Walter Myers, and a sister, Edith Browning. Joan was a homemaker and a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church. Joan is survived by her son, Dr. Wesley (Rina) Pate of Weirton, WV; a daughter, Attorney Sarah Beth Pate of Kentfield, CA; a granddaughter, Stephanie Pate; three brothers, David Myers of Princeton, WV; Gene Myers, of Newport News, VA, and Ralph Myers, of Mooresville, NC; three sisters, Phyllis Rutherford, of Coalwood, WV; Marlene Martin of Mt. Gilead, OH, and JoAnn VanWaes of Lowden, IA; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where funeral services will be held 8 AM on Wednesday. The Reverend Clint Quillen, Jr. will preside. Additional services will be held 3PM Wednesday at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, with Pastor David Rudolph presiding. Entombment will follow.
