Joan Campbell Switzer of Needham died at her home Nov 10 at the age of 80 surrounded by her family. She was a long time resident of Needham and loved spending her summers at Sandy Neck, Barnstable. Joan was a dedicated wife and mother, an avid bird watcher and amateur naturalist. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities, most notably the many years of service to local hospitals. Joan was an extremely active person. She particularly enjoyed skiing and played competitive tennis most of her adult life. Among her other interests were the symphony and world travel. Joan was a fun loving character that will be deeply missed by many. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Karl W. Switzer, son David, daughters, Aven, Cynthia, Laurie, and five grandchildren in addition to brother Roger Campbell and sister Virginia Reuman. She was predeceased by her brother Achor Campbell. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday Nov 21at 11am at Christ Church Chapel, 1132 Highland Avenue Needham.
