Joan V. Klag, 86, of Gumbridge Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, passed away December 6, 2011, in Virginia Beach, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Louis H. Klag, Sr. A native of Hampton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Cowles and Doris Holden. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She was a member of Charity United Methodist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir. She was an active volunteer knitting baby hats for newborn babies for Chesapeake General New Born Nursery. Mrs. Klag is survived by her children, Louis H. Klag, Jr. and wife June, Martha Sales, Virginia Stone, Judith Campbell and husband Dallas and Jeffery Klag; six grandchildren, Jamison Klag, Lathan Klag, Vanessa Stone, Barbara Gilliam, Rachel Stone and William Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia Smoyer and Andrew Smoyer. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Charity United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert J. Robertson, III officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Foundation. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
