Joe Fisher Roop, 91, of Hot Springs Village, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Hot Springs. He was born February 6, 1920 in Paint Lick, Kentucky to the late Waller Bennett and Lucy Noe Roop. Joe attended Eastern Kentucky University and served with the U.S. Air Force as a pilot in WWII. He worked for Continental Insurance Company retiring as Vice President of the Farm and Hail Division. He retired to Hot Springs Village and enjoyed playing lots of golf and making new friends. He was President of the Arkansas Village Razorback Club and President of the Village Shriners and Sojourners.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Lola Roop of Hot Springs Village; two daughters, Joe Ann and husband Denton Brickey of Charlotte, North Carolina and Elizabeth and husband Jerry Austin of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Michael Brickey of Las Vegas, Nevada, David Brickey of Dallas, Texas and John Palka of Seattle, Washington.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Village United Methodist Church with George Tanner, Dr. George McCoy and Norman Carter officiating.
