Joel Rosales Sr., 94, of Stanfield died Oct. 7. 2011 in Stanfield.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev John Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Rosales was born Dec. 16, 1916 in Harlengen, Texas, to Ataniziado and Lucia Rosales. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He worked for 15 years as a laborer for John Wayne's Red River Cattle Co. in Stanfield, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Laveigh's Lounge in Stanfield, playing pool and fishing. He enjoyed spending Saturdays with his daughter at Manuel's Cafe in Casa Grande. Family members said he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by four daughters, Lisa Rosales of Italy, Maria Teresa Rosales of Florida and Maria Lourdes Rosales of Stanfield; and Lucia Anita Villanueva of Casa Grande, eight sons, Joel Jr. of Florida, Roberto G. of Florida, Jorge Adalberto of Florida, Juan Roberto of Casa Grande, Jesse of Casa Grande, Joel of Casa Grande, Jaime of Casa Grande, and Jorge of Oklahoma; one stepson, Rogerio Estrada of Texas; 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria R.; one daughter, Elizabeth; and two sons, Fernando and Alberto.
