Schenectady- John A. Kerne 61, of Schenectady, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011, peacefully at home in his sleep.

John was born in Albany, son of the late Philip T. and Stella Gibson Kerner. John graduated from Linton High School, he was enlisted in the US Air Force where he attained the rank of SGT and was honorably discharged in 1971. John retired as a Line Supervisor for the Clorox Company in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his siblings, Philip (Patricia) Kerner of Gloversville, Thomas Kerner of Chicopee, MA, Rev. James (Alicia) Kerner of Manchester, MA, Ann (Michael) Martin Sr., Peter (Karen) Kerner of Woodbrine, GA., and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Mary Kerner Tsamis.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.,( at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Military honors will be Wednesday morning at 10 AM at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stratton VA Medical Center Patient Fund.
