JOHN A. MARCACCI

Mr. John A. Marcacci, 90, died July 21, 2009 at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, FL.

He was born in Oakmont, PA and lived in Vero Beach for eight years coming from Cape Canaveral, FL.

Mr. Marcacci was a graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA and a member of the Duquesne Alumni Association.

Mr. Marcacci served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was the Captain and Airplane Commander of seventeen B-29 bomber missions over Tokyo, Japan, and retired a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of VFW Post 3918 Vero Beach.

He was Controller and General Manager at Indian Creek Country Club, Miami Beach, FL for thirty years before his retirement in 1981.

Mr. Marcacci was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach and lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus of Miami, FL #3757.

Survivors include his sons, Bill Marcacci of Boynton Beach, FL and Tom Marcacci of Jupiter, FL; daughters, Dorit Lofting of Old Fort, NC, Janet Bochnowski of Atherton, CA and Paula Boyle of Ayden, NC, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Marcacci was preceded in death by his wife Janet in November, 2008.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7550 26th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966 in memory of Mr. Marcacci.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am on July 27, 2009 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM on July 27, 2009 in South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
