John Arnold Harrison of Orange, N.J., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wayne, N.J. Mr. Harrison was a lifelong resident of East Orange, N.J., until his retirement as a police detective with the East Orange Police Department in 1985. He also served as a federal police chief at the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Pearl Harrison. He leaves behind his loving daughters, Dr. Lauren Harrison and Mrs. Adrianne Harrison-Surgeon; a son-in-law, Leon D. Surgeon; a grandson, John-Tod Surgeon; a sister, Mrs. Jean Smith; a brother, Mr. Nathaniel Harrison, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
