Rev. John Robertson, Jr. “Big John" age 74 of Dallas, Texas passed away March 31, 2011. Born January 25, 1937 to Rev. John Robertson Sr. and Eula Mae in Gilmer, Texas. He was the first of six children born to this union. He accepted Christ at a very early age and was a member of the East Springfield Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas.

He graduated from Valley View High School in Gilmer, Texas at the top of his class. After high school, he returned to Dallas after attending Bishop College in Marshall, Texas and attended El Centro College in Dallas, Texas where he took courses in engineering, data processing, credit union operation with Certification. He later enrolled at Dallas Baptist University where he took religious courses.

After being ordained, he began his ministry at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He later joined Mount Horeb Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B. Bradford where he was a member of the Male Chorus. He later became Senior Pastor of Clear Springs Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas. Rev. John Robertson, Jr. worked at Texas Instruments before beginning his career at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.

Rev. Robertson, Jr. had a love for gospel music and playing the piano. 1973, Rev. Robertson and his sisters recorded an album called "Amazing Grace". After his retirement, Rev. John Robertson Jr. became a member of the Creative Services for the elderly where he played the piano. He will be singing and playing the piano in the Heavenly Choir.

The angel of silence entered his life on March 31, 2011. Rev. John Robertson, Jr. is proceeded in death by his parents John and Eula Mae Robertson, Sr.; wife, Girtie George Robertson; one sister, Katie Culberson; one brother, Fred Robertson; one brother-in-law, Walter Johnson, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Naomi Hayes, Etta Mae Johnson and Johnnie Mae Johnson; two brothers, Charles Robertson and Hue Robertson; a special niece and nephew, Tina Stone and Walter Johnson, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, family and cherished loved ones.
