Father John Burkus

John Burkus of Hot Springs, retired Catholic Priest, died January 20, 2012. He was born December 3, 1913 in Lithuania. He was ordained on June 16, 1940. He fulfilled his dream of being a missionary by writing dozens of religious books that were translated into several languages. He retired to Hot Springs in 1975 after 20 years of serving the Diocese of El Paso.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary will be at the church Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Casimir's Cemetery in Chicago.

Visitation will be 5:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church
