Monetta-Graveside Services for John C. Burton, Sr., 96, will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Monday at the Burton Family Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Yeargin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Memorials may be made to Ridge Spring Baptist Church, P.O. Box 364, Ridge Spring SC 29129 or to Gideons International, Batesburg Camp, P.O. Box 2129, B-L SC 29070. Mr. Burton passed away Friday, July 8, 2011. Born in Saluda County, son of the late James Nathaniel and Josephine Shuler Burton. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, a member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church, Ridge Spring Masonic Lodge and was a Gideon. He retired from the US Army Reserves as a Major and from the SRS. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Annie Hastings Burton; son, James Nathaniel (Luanne) Burton of Leesville; daughter, Mary Ann Burton of the home; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Burton of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Eppie McDowell of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, John Cecil Burton, III of Tallahassee, FL, Sarah Burton of Columbia, and Rebecca Burton of Clemson. He was predeceased by a son, John C. Burton, Jr.
