Mr. John Charles Smith, age 61, of Hampton, GA passed away November 9, 2011. John was born in Dade County, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Monroe Smith and his wife, Barbara Darlyne Sims Smith. John was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed helping and doing for others, being a handyman, doing crossword puzzles, and being an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. He was a member of the University of Georgia Theta Chi fraternity. Survivors are his children, Jennifer Smith of Atlanta, Katy (John) Morris of Mableton, and Jack (Liza) Smith of The Hamptons; grandchild, Emory Morris of Mableton; mother, Eileen Smith of Stuart, FL; sisters, Sandy Hay of Jacksonville, FL and Sherri Schilb of Stuart, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for John will be Sunday, November 13, 2011 – 2:30 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Berea Cemetery in Hampton.
