Dr. John D. Brooke
Dr. John D. Brooke, 89, of Newburgh, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at his residence.
John was Founder and President of Detroit College of Law; Graduate of Detroit Bible Institute (William Tyndale College); B.A., Great Lakes College (Shaw College) Ph.B.D., Pioneer Theological Seminary; Th.D., Trinity Theological Seminary; Church Founder, Pastor, Teacher, Administrator, Missionary Executive Director; Member, American Association of University Administrators. He was Executive Director of Detroit City Rescue Mission, founder and president of Community School of the Bible and a member of the Gideon's International. He was Founder and President of Trinity College of The Bible and Theological Seminary, Newburgh, IN, retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol Free, Linda Akhtar and husband Jim, Denise Fox and husband Michael, Vicki Clements and husband Dennis, Arleen Stockton and husband Bud; sons, Kenneth Pearson, James Briscoe and wife Carole, Darrel Briscoe and wife Debbie; twenty one grandchildren and forty five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Ann, Dorothy, and Eunice, son Larry Briscoe, daughter, Sally Baldwin, and grandson Jeremy Warren and family who died in the 2004 tornado.
Services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN, with Pastor Maurice Melton officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at the funeral home from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, IN.
