John Walker was born Feb 23, 1941 to Robert and Frankie Walker in Glendora, Mississippi. He was the third child of five children, Suretha, Augustine, Robert, and Donald. Donald, Robert, and Augustine preceded him in death. He was educated in St. Louis at Sumner High School. He later joined the army and served in the Vietnam war. After leaving the military, John worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft as an aircraft assembly specialist for 30 years. John was a loving and devoted father to six children-Sherri, Derek, Anthony, Sean, Katrina, and Michael. He was married to Jean Marie Walker in 1963 who preceded him in death as did his oldest son Derek. He was later married to Victoria Walker in 1996. She was a devoted wife and friend. She and many other family members and friends helped comfort John in his last days. John's relationship with God grew steadily as he experienced many hardships, loss of family members, personal struggles, and health issues later in life. He eventually understood that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for his sin. John later joined Washington Tabernacle church where he attended for many years. John will be remembered for many strong qualities. Foremost among these are that he was always sincere, he was always frank, and that he never gave up no matter what happened to him. It is certain his strength and faith helped him endure the health hardships he suffered for over a year after having a stroke in December 2010. On Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Grand Manor Nursing Home the Lord called our father home. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife and good friend, Victoria, three sons, Anthony, Sean, and Michael, two daughters Sherri and Katrina, one sister Suretha, a brother-in-law Al Thomas, nephews Michael Thomas, Al Thomas Jr, Robert Spearman, Gino Spearman, Timothy Spearman, Andre Walker, daughter-in-law Sherri Walker, four grandchildren Joel McCray, Darcie, Anthony, and Carl Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
