John Edward Webster passed away on January 5, 2012 at the ripe old age of 92 at the Knapp Adult Foster Care Home where he had been staying for the last 6 months. He struggled this last year with progressively debilitating dementia, but is finally now at peace. Born in Manchester, England to John and Gertie Webster in 1919. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1952 to be with his sisters who moved to the U.S. after the war. He spent most of his career working as a contact lens technician and upon retirement moved with his wife and youngest son, Scott out to Portland, Oregon where he spent his remaining years enjoying trips to the Oregon coast.
Known to his friends and family alike as "Eddie" he was a warm, generous and gregarious English Gentleman. His favorite past time was walking the neighborhood with his dogs, first Casey and then later Jake. He loved his pets and would welcome conversations with neighbors and passers by as they walked the Sellwood neighborhood near the park. Dad was never quite the same after Jake passed a couple of years ago.
Dad is survived by his wife, Albina Eva Webster, his sons Scott Webster and Kelvin Webster, daughter-in-law, Jane Jouett, brother, Derek Webster (Manchester, England), sister, Muriel Teich (Naples, Florida) and grandchildren, Cassandra Webster and Tyler Webster.
