A Mass of Christian Burial for Buck (John S.)  Frank, age 87, of Dent, MN, will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent, Wednesday, August 11, 2004, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Jerry Nordick as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Buck died August 6, 2004 at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN.

Buck was born to John A. and Mary (Henn) Frank, on May 28, 1917, at Mayville, ND.  He was the first son in a family of six children.  Buck married a beautiful rural school teacher, Lucille C. Jacobson, on November 6, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent.

In 1940, the young couple took over the operation of the resort known as Frank's Lodge on Star Lake, rural Dent, MN, that his parents had established in 1934.  Buck, with the assistance of his daughters, Stephanie Jane and Mary duCharme, actively managed the resort and campground to the present time.  Mr. Frank was a spokesman for the tourist industry and after over thirty years of advocacy, succeeded in having the culvert at the mouth of the West arm of Star Lake replaced with a bridge in 1987, greatly improving the flow of boat traffic in and out of the West arm.  Star Lake Township named the bridge the Frank Memorial Bridge in appreciation of Buck and Lucille?s efforts.

From the age of fourteen, Buck worked at various trucking jobs.  His longest period of employment was with Daggett Truck Lines of Frazee, MN, where he had a perfect safety record.

Buck is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille, Dent, MN; his children, Joyce (Howard) Weyker,  Sebastopol, CA, John M. (Kathleen) Frank, Shasta Lake, CA, Mary (Pierre) duCharme, Dent, MN, Karen (Jerry) Gordon, Crescent City, CA, Beth (Bill) Weil, Snellville, GA, Robert J. (Dona) Frank, Redding, CA, Kris (Gery) Knuttila, Fargo, ND and Stephanie Jane Frank, Dent, MN; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Krekelberg, Perham, MN, and Frances Masterson, Port Hueneme, CA; one brother, Leroy frank, Granada Hills, CA; cousin, Jack Vasconcellos, Dent, MN and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Buck in death was one son, Richard A. Frank, in 1965 and two grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association, W. Central MN Chapter, Fergus Falls, MN.

Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, is in charge of the arrangements. (218) 346-5175
