John "Larry" Glass, 74, of Wabash, Indiana, died 12:55 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Wabash. He was born May 7, 1936 in Wabash, Indiana to John George Glass and Ordie Paula (Brown) Carpenter. John was a 1954 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Marcella Drook in Bennetsville, South Carolina, on April 21, 1960; she died April 14, 2004. He was a retired First Sergeant in the US Army serving two tours in Vietnam. He also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Marion, Indiana. John was a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion Post 15 and the Legion Riders, the VFW Post 286, the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) and A.B.A.T.E.,(American Bikers Aimed Towards Education) all of Wabash. He enjoyed motorcycles. He is survived by mother, Ordie Paula Carpenter of LaFontaine, Indiana; step daughter, Patricia (Dick) Brewer of Wabash; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Meyer and Jerri Ann (Joel) McLean both of Wabash, Patty Jones of Peru, Indiana, Rod (Beth) Harmon of Elkhart, Indiana, Richard (Leslie) Brewer, Jr. of Wabash; 13 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John George Glass, wife, Marcella Glass, and two step sons, Paul David and Jerry Glass. Graveside services and burial will be held at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, 1100 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Preferred memorial is H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group).
