John H. Acken Jr. of Longwood went to his Heavenly Father on August 5th, 2011. Born in Ottawa, KS, August 17, 1927. Served in the Navy for WWII South Pacific Theatre. Worked 35 years for the Union Pacific Railroad. Predeceased by his son Gerald Lee Acken and survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Acken, son Dr. John Acken of WA, daughters Dorothy Robinson of TX, Mary Acken of Oviedo, Margaret Guidry of Longwood, and his 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Life member VFW post 10147, Knights of Columbus Council 12761 charter member, Annunciation Catholic Church member. Christian Burial Mass will be held 11AM Thursday August 11th Annunciation Catholic Church 1020 Montgomery Rd Altamonte Springs. Visitation 6:30-7:30PM with a wake service at 7PM Wednesday August 10th at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte Chapel, 90 Weathersfield Ave., Altamonte Springs. Burial will be held in Kansas City, MO. Memorial Gifts can be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Pkwy., Altamonte Springs, FL.
