John H. Rowe Sr., 85, of Port St. Lucie, formerly of Summerfield and Jensen Beach, died February 6, 2012 at his daughter's residence. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and in 1947 he moved to Palm City from his birthplace. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Before retirement he had many different careers, including but not limited to: carpenter for 25 years, Volunteer EMT for Jensen Beach, Ambulance Driver for City of Stuart, Martin County Sheriff's Department working in the Jail for 8 years, and Grumman Aircraft. John was instrumental in the development of much of Martin County, including the old Roosevelt Bridge, Cedar Point Development, Marina at Sailfish point, started the Palm City Baseball League, and too many others to mention.
John is survived by his daughter, Catherine L. Delgado of Port St. Lucie, sons; Charles Edward Rowe of Stuart, John H. Rowe Jr. of Lexington, SC, Harold D. Rowe of Hickory, NC and Thomas L. Rowe of Pelion, SC; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carrie Rowe in 2006, sons, James H. Rowe and Richard C. Rowe and brother, Charles Bobby Rowe.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00PM, Friday, February 10, 2012 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel.
Service: 2:00PM, February 11, 2012 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel.
Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
