John Edward Hansen was born on January 28, 1931 in Cedar Falls, IA, the son of Hans Peter and Marjorie Mae (Miller) Hansen. John grew up in Cedar Falls and had many lifelong friends in the community. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1949 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree for the Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in 1953. John worked for several years with the Waterloo Paper Company. In 1968, John became an investment broker with A.G. Edwards, retiring in 1995 after 27 years.

As a boy, John loved doing magic tricks and performing in shows. As an adult, he enjoyed performing in Community Theater, and appeared in several plays for the Cedar Falls Community Theatre. He delighted in entertaining and making people laugh. John served on the Red Cross Board, The Western Home Foundation Board and the Cedar Falls Community Theatre Board. Most recently, he loved working with children in the AWANA program at Trinity Bible Church. John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and easy smile; his love of family and the Lord.
