Daddy, Today was our first Father's Day without you. We are sure that Mother has planned a wonderful celebration for you in heaven. We're hoping that you and Granddaddy have gotten in some good fishing time...How blessed we were to have you as our father. Know how much you are loved and missed.

Your parents were kind and gentle and always showed an interest in my life. I really appreciated when they hired me as an organist when I was young. Your father was very good with the funeral arrangements when my sister lost her young child. You have my deepest sympathy.

My sympathy to the family. Mr. Davis was a friend of my father, Ben Hunt back in the 1960s, handled my father's funeral in September of 1971, and all of our other family funerals.

My grandparents were married for 57 years until death temporarily separated them. They met my grandfather’s senior year of high school in Osceola County. My grandfather played football and thought he was entitled to special privileges, like being late. My grandma worked in the front office. Their first date was Christmas Eve Mass. They married in July of ‘51. My grandma stood by my grandfather’s side through the Draft and Korean deployment, mortuary school, two kids, a business, one grandbaby and two great-grandbabies. They have always been my idea of true love.
My grandmother’s favorite flower was hibiscus. My grandfather brought her at least 30 fresh blooms daily in the last five years of her life to spread throughout the house. It could be pour4ing rain or 100 degrees outside, but come noon, he’d bring his bride her flowers! My grandma and I sat at their breakfast table one afternoon shortly before she went to the hospice house and began one of our “chats”. These were my private moments with my grandma and these moments I will cherish forever. Many I cannot share, this conversation, however I believe can inspire man women in here. We were talking about her life with my grandfather, the hibiscus and the life I was building with my children’s father. She smiled and told me she wouldn’t be here forever, but she hoped I always found happiness and I never should settle for less than hibiscus every day.
My grandma passed away June 12, 2009. I lost my best friend. So did my grandfather. He still has pictures of her all over the house and every day, rain or shine, he places a fresh hibiscus bloom near each frame. Love never fails. Reunited again, April 20, 2011.
