JOHN HAROLD DAVIS
MELBOURNE

Harold Davis, 80, died peacefully with his daughter, Margaret, at his side, April 20, 2011 at William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay.

Mr. Davis was born on May 29, 1930 in Kissimmee, Fl to the late Doyle Davis and the late Mary M (Heffernan) Davis.

Mr. Davis moved to Eau Gallie/Melbourne in November 1959 from Sanford, Fl.

Mr. Davis, a retired funeral director, is the former owner of Davis Funeral Home in Melbourne. During his career, he worked for Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee, Fl., Brisson Funeral Home , Sanford, Fl. and Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, Fl.

Mr. Davis graduated from Osceola High School in 1948, attended Emory University in 1949 and graduated from Cincinnati School of Embalming and was licensed as a Funeral Director in 1954.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he served in the 293rd QM Graves Registration Company and received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze star and United Nations Medal.

He was a parishioner at Ascension Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Fr. Gabriel Council & John F. Kennedy General Assembly. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion and was active in the City of Eau Gallie Volunteer Fire Department and served on community boards.

He was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Breese Davis in June 12, 2009 after 58 years of marriage and a great granddaughter, Talynne.

He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Ann Davis of Melbourne, Patti Davis Thogersen (Rick) of Port St. Lucie, Fl; granddaughter, Ashley Melynn Davis, great-grand children, Audrey-Lee and Gunner; brother William Davis (Judy) of Kissimmee, uncle Gordon Davis of Kissimmee, and nieces, nephew, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Parkway, Palm Bay, Fl., 32907.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday, April 26 at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home with a Vigil at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on April 27 at Ascension Catholic Church and interment will be 1:30pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee.
