John J. Foerst, Jr., 71, of Knowlton Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Jersey City, NJ on May 7, 1940, he was the son of the late John J. Foerst and Kathryn Mydosh. John was raised in Bayonne, NJ and was of the first graduating class of Marist High School, Bayonne in 1958. He resided in Knowlton Twp. since 1974. John was an attorney with his law firm, Law Office of John J. Foerst, Jr., Belvidere, NJ since 1975. He was a 1962 graduate of Seton Hall University and received his law degree in 1969 from Seton Hall University School of Law. John had served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard from 1962 to 1969 with the rank of sergeant. He was a past member and President of the Warren County Bar Association; He was also a member and past President of the Serra Club of Warren County. He had served as town attorney for Belvidere and Oxford in the 80's. John was a devote Catholic, a parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He had also been a member of its Holy Name Society. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, John David Foerst. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Joan Barbara Brakowski; a son, James M. Foerst, of Westfield, NJ and his grandsons Daniel Lee Foerst also of Knowlton and James Michael, Jr. (Jamie) and Collin Foerst of Westfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to John's Alma Mater, Seton Hall University School of Law Scholarship Fund ("In Memory of John J. Foerst, Jr., Esq.
