A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday April 21, 2009 for John J. "Jack" Martin Jr., a lifelong resident of Belmont and the retired owner of the Herald Publishing Co., in Belmont. Jack died on Friday April 17, 2009 at his home in Belmont.
Born in Belmont and a graduate of Belmont High School and Boston University class of 1952, Mr. Martin excelled in hockey while at B.U. and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as an Intelligence Officer. He was a longtime member of Oakley Country Club, Watertown and served on the Board of Directors of the Belmont Savings Bank.
Jack is survived by his wife Jane C. (Carroll) Martin and is the father of Jack Martin III and his wife Mary of Manchester, NH; Kathy Conaty & her husband John of Belmont; Stephen Martin and his wife Kerry of Westminster; and Kerry Hernandez and her husband Peter of Malibu, CA. He was the loving grandfather of Brendan and Jake Conaty; John, Zack, Camryn and Trevor Martin; and Faith Hernandez. He was the brother of the late Marian M. Currier and David C. Martin.
