John Alexander "Jack" Russell, 80, a resident of Annapolis for the past 32 years, died October 30 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 10, 1931 in Washington, DC, and graduated from Augusta Military Academy in Fort Defiance, VA before earning a Bachelor's degree from Catholic University in Washington. He was a project manager for Westinghouse Aerospace and served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954. His hobbies included boating, fishing, crabbing, good food, entertaining family and friends and watching the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his wife, Lenore Vincelette Russell, whom he married July 12, 1952; six children, John A. Russell (Sue) of Annapolis, Michael S. Russell (Annette) of Seabrook, TX, Jeffrey P. Russell (Elinor) of Silver Spring, Maureen S. Huffner (Forest) of Friendship, Lenore M. Liller (Todd) of Annapolis and Paul J. Russell of Havre de Grace; 13 grandchildren, John A. Russell III, Katherine and Lauren Russell-Conway, William F. and Angela Reagan, Katie, Jacob, Krista and Andrew Huffner, Bryan and Alexandra Liller, and P. Joseph and Natalie Russell; and four great-grandchildren, John A. Russell IV, Maddy Russell, Kayla Reagan and Olivia Liller.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 4 at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. The memorial service will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 5 at Joy Reigns Lutheran Church, 35 Mayo Road, Edgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, 2001 Medical Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.
