JOHN JOHNSON, age 71, a lifelong resident of Centreville/Manassas, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax.
John was born September 14, 1940 in Washington, DC son of the late Alfred Henry and Mary Louise (Beck) Johnson. He was a member of Grace Life Community Church, Bristow, Virginia and attended Fairfax High School. John was owner of J&H Drywall, Inc. and worked in construction since the early 50's. He struggled with emphysema since 1986 and fought a valiant battle against COPD. During his illness he always maintained a positive attitude and was grateful for every breath.
In 1984 he met his spouse, Anne and in 1993, they began Thunder Ridge Emu Products.
Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Anne Geller Johnson; one daughter, Tammy Johnson and husband LT COL Bill Johnson of Tampa, Florida; two sisters, Ouida Howard of Strasburg, Virginia and Judy Hill of Conifer, Colorado and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00 P.M. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Grace Life Community Church, 9560 Linton Hall Road, Bristow, Virginia with Pastor Jeff McCormack officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers, or contributions to the Salvation Army, 2626 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20037 in loving memory of John Johnson.
